Rimmel London | 9-in-1 Matte BB Cream

Hey Beauties...
I recently reviewed the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation (here) and mentioned in there that I had also been trying out Rimmels latest addition to the Stay Matte range, their 9-in-1 BB Cream! I love BB Creams as I don't generally need a lot of coverage especially in summer or like the feel of most foundations on my face, so I was really excited to try this one, especially if it claims to keep you matte making it perfect for summer, when I tend to get a little oily around my forehead and cheek area. I usually have Normal/combination skin, so sometimes I get a little oily, sometimes I have dry skin (nothing a balancing mud mask can't sort out) anyway onto the review..

So Rimmel claim their Matte BB Cream is their first 9-in-1 Skin Perfecting Super Make-up which gives you an impressive 9 in 1 results;
- Primes
-Moisturises
- Minimises pours
-Conceals
- Covers
- Smooths
- Mattifies
- Brightens
- Helps protect

They also say the product is "Lightweight, ultra comfortable formula instantly gives a flawless, 100% natural finish. SPF 25 "  I do love Rimmel as a brand, but I have to say these are all pretty big claims to make.

Rimmel's Matte BB Cream is only available in 3 shades
-Very Light
-Light
-Medium

Rimmel Matte 9-in-1 BB Cream Medium | £6.99
I opted for Medium, as that's the shade I usually go for, however the colour does appear a little too dark for me at the moment but I think it will suit me better in the summer when I have a tan. I may have to go back and get the light shade, as from what I have seen the colours are a little 'off'
The formula of the product did surprise me a little as it is such a thin runny cream, even though it claims to be matte, but after I started to work the product into the skin I did notice it start to get thicker and become more 'solid' cream, close to a mousse texture.  As you can see from the pictures above a little does go a long way so be careful not to over apply as it can look slightly cakey, the amount on the back of my hand is about the right amount to completely cover my whole face.

The application of the product is pretty easy and does blend nicely however you do have to work quick, and make sure you really blend as it does dry pretty quick, and when its dry it stays put.

As you can see the coverage is pretty impressive for a BB Cream, I would say it is a medium coverage and can be slightly buildable. It does cover my card circles nicely and I don't feel the need to wear concealer when I'm wearing this BB Cream, which is nice. It doesn't feel too heavy on the face, unless you over apply then it can be heavy. It really does completely even out skin tone, smooths, soothes and covers redness. As for my pores, I would say they are slightly minimised you can still see them on my forehead slightly, not so much on my cheeks.

At first the product does mattify the skin, leaving you with a gorgeous natural matte finish with just a hint of a natural glow. The coverage of the BB Cream definitely does last all day, however after about 6-8 hours of wear I can see shine coming through on my forehead area so I wouldn't say it keeps you completely matte all day! I did however notice that it doesn't cling to any dry patches I had on my face.

Overall I'm not overly impressed with this product mostly because the colour is a little off for me, and because it didn't keep my matte through out the whole day and does need the help of a good setting powder to stay matte. Other then that I do think this is a nice BB Cream and I'm impressed with the coverage of it. I feel this may be best suited for normal skin types and possibly ok for people with slight dry or very minimal oily skin, if used with a powder. I wouldn't recommend it for really Oily skin people though.

However I do think I will continue to use this product as I do like it. It just didn't deliver on some of the claims Rimmel made. Is it definitely a huge improvement from the last attempt at a BB Cream rimmel made, which I hated (let me know if you want a full review of that) So lets just leave it as I really like the product when my skins less oily, I just don't love it, which is a first for me!

Have you tried this BB Cream yet? I'd love to know your thoughts on it!

  1. This looks really good on you! I'm using their Stay Matte foundation at the moment, but I know it'll be a bit too heavy for the summer weather. I might have to try this out, thanks for the review!
